Mission Statement

We are investigating the possibility of also introducing a digital service to the area it is our intention to look at the current technology and make an informed future proof decision and not simply follow the “crowd” and be locked into one protocol or manufacturer and mirror other efforts using this exciting technology. There are many issues to consider such as mobile usage and the apparent road safety issues, the total cost of ownership (TCO) in terms of the repeater itself and its users that must considered.

The systems are run on an informal basis, NO committee is involved with experimentation and fun being the primary driver. The group has been formed to collect the best software developers and administrators that will drive the systems development forward into new areas.  The group does not however own the repeater or gateway system(s) they are fully financed by the keeper.  We have seen all too often that committees and the like can have disagreements and which seems very sad considering this is meant to be a fun hobby.  These systems will be FREE from any such burdens for all to use and enjoy and become a part of.

We do NOT accept donations of any kind however If you would also like a mention on our site or maybe a link to your own website then please email  G4LCH   and let us know what you have planned. If anybody does wish to take an active interest in the repeater and how it is operated then please email  G4LCH  with your contact details.

At the moment GB3UI is a continuous 67.0 Hz CTCSS system and will not respond to tone-burst or carrier we are working to remove this requirement. We are also working on a new control logic that will permit the correct operation with VOIP software.

The Groups missoin is simple to have fun and develop high quality, scailable, secure software and hardware solutions for the hobby in the area of VOIP and Digital comunications.   Using the most approporiate development platform and methodologies to deliver state of the art software components in a structured / planned fashion, designed with the same quality as commercial products. The emhasis being on quality as well as speed.

We will be transparant in our efforts and where possible release software under the Free Software foundations GNU licensing agreement that will in most cases see our projects being available via the normal open source methods.

Its our intention to fully intergrate Echolink using multi platform techniques that will enable any user regardless of their operating system to run our prodcts.  A planned and phased approach will be adopted and no software will be pre-released outside of the group.

Regards
